At Interact Law, we believe that strong leadership drives meaningful collaboration. That’s why we’re thrilled to launch our “Meet the Interact Law Board” series.
Over the coming months, we’ll introduce you to the dynamic individuals shaping our strategy, fostering innovation, and strengthening cross-border legal partnerships.
Meet our Board Chair Christian Heimerl, Partner at German law firm ljh Lindlbauer Rechtsanwälte!
How long have you been a member of Interact Law, and how did you become Board Chair?
Our firm has been part of this international legal network since 1993—one of the first to join after its founding in 1992. At that time, Interact Law operated as an EEIG (European Economic Interest Group), with membership limited to EU member states. I have represented LJH from the outset, which has given me deep insight into the group’s history and evolution.
Over time, we saw the value in expanding beyond the EU and opened membership to law firms worldwide, reestablishing the network as Interact Law. LJH joined the network to ensure top-tier service for our international clients and to personally recommend trusted lawyers in jurisdictions where our clients required legal support. Our commitment to this vision has kept us engaged for over three decades.
I have always been actively involved in Interact Law and was honoured to be invited to join the Board about 10 years ago. When our esteemed former Chairman, Joris Lensink, announced his retirement last year, I was humbled to be recommended as his successor and gladly accepted the role.
What do you enjoy about your role as Board Chair?
I take great satisfaction in expanding the network into key jurisdictions that strengthen our member firms. Being able to shape the group’s strategic direction and enhance the benefits for our members is both rewarding and fulfilling.
Serving as Board Chair requires a significant time commitment but I embrace the responsibility. I particularly enjoy collaborating with my fellow Board members, who are incredibly dedicated and bring valuable ideas to the table. Our biweekly Board meetings are a highlight for me—I find our discussions to be enriching, inspiring, and full of positive energy.
How do you encourage lawyers to maximize their Interact Law membership?
I actively encourage our lawyers to participate in our biannual Interact Law conferences, held in different countries where our member firms operate. A few years ago, we also introduced an initiative to engage our young lawyers—the next generation of leaders—more directly in the network.
Beyond events, I continuously promote Interact Law to foster cross-referrals, collaboration, and business opportunities among member firms. The more we engage with and support one another, the stronger our network becomes.
